Dirty Water

Kendra Truesdale

a poem by Kendra Truesdale, Senior Math Education Major

You walk in front of me

You don’t know I’m behind

You reach for her hand

While I clench mine

Taking my trust

Like a grain of salt to sea

And amongst the blue waves

You forgot me

You were my whole beach

And I just a dime-sized quartz

Stepped over upon

And in between your toes

To be rinsed down the drain

With the rest of your dirty water
