You were always a wildflower

Full of beauty and joy, and free

Brought inside by those who admire

Until your leaves start to whither

Those houses never felt like home

As your home wasn’t defined by walls

You belong where the birds

Sing the anthem of your journey

A journey not set in stone

Nor bound by paved roads

Going where the wind takes you

As you only thrived in sunlight

You were always a wildflower

And I’m sorry I had to let you go
